Bethany Veterans Day 2008
BETHANY - They stood proudly at attention as the U.S. flag was lowered to half staff in recognition of the special moment that fellow veterans, dead and living, were honored for their service and sacrifice. A slight breeze ruffled the flag as the annual Bethany ceremony began at the memorial stone near the front steps of Town Hall.

Teen center, police differ on recent incident
WOODBRIDGE - Discrepancies have surfaced in the recounting of events that took place at the Amity Teen Center on the evening of Nov. 3. Officers with the Woodbridge Police Department described a scene of chaos and danger, while those associated with the ATC maintained that the situation was under control. Ed Sheehy, the first selectman of Woodbridge, called a special meeting for the morning of Nov. 10 to discuss the event and to brainstorm on ways to allay the tension.

No big demand for gay marriage licenses
A week and a half after it became legal for homosexuals to marry in Connecticut the state office of Vital Statistics reports there has not been a mad rush for gays to marry. In fact less than 100 marriage licenses have been issued.
Earlier this month, Nov. 12, New Haven Superior Court Judge Jonathan E. Silbert signed an order clearing the way for same sex couples to get their marriage licenses.

Older canine needs loving home
This senior canine dubbed 'William' was found wandering on Sperry Road Oct. 12. He was brought to the District Animal Control facility by the Connecticut State Police as a good Samartian brought him to the police barracks.

Toxicology report negative in dog poison
WOODBRIDGE - The toxicology report on the confirmed poisoning of a 15-month-old canine were negative according to the laboratory report from the Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health at Michigan State University.
The report goes on to say that the samples, tested Oct. 22, were in a degradable state.
